Thursday 3rd September
George Pentland Botanic Gardens
Frankston
WOW! What day. A lunchtime storm that threatened to wash everything away, cleared to a bright almost cloudless free, sunny afternoon.
Arriving at the Gardens, we found that a good half of the Gardens closed due to new construction works of Drives and Pathways.
Despite this, the walk around the beds proved to be eye-catching. The wattle along the northern boundary was a sea of yellow. Many not photographed because labels were either missing or not found, so could not be named. Local knowledge of a coffee outlet not forthcoming, an enjoyable afternoon was had by a small group.

Sunday 26th July
Back Creek Trail
Camberwell
We started our visit to Back Creek in Camberwell at the "gorge" section. It starts south of Riversdale Road where the creek flows from a drain into a deep pool. The creek flows further with occasional natural small rapids which help to oxygenate the water, thereby improving water quality.
Council and Melbourne Water are planting indigenous species, reducing weeds and improving paths to make this Back Creek Reserve a most rewarding place to visit.

Sunday 28th June
Private Garden
Mitcham
It was a great winter's day. Brilliant sunshine. Interesting topography. As you enter the garden a slight rise. The house sits on the crest and as you proceed to the rear, the gradient suddenly drops with a reasonably steep path to the back boundary.

Wow! What a day. Fantastic weather, so warm for a late April day and a fantastic garden. What an inspiration. The effort made to create such an outstanding garden is enormous.

Sunday 29th March
Candlebark Community Nursery
Mooroolbark
Candlebark Community Nursery (Inc) is a self supporting not-for-profit organisation established in 1994, dedicated to helping local people improve the natural environment.
Run by volunteers, offering a wide range of attractive, low-cost, local native plants. The plants are grown from material collected throughout Maroondah, Yarra Ranges and Manningham council areas and surrounds In Melbourne's outer east.
With a small group, we were taken through the propagating and growing hot houses and shade houses, eloquently described by Jarvis, the Nursery's Propagating Manager.
His knowledge of the plants and their provinces' was without question.
A very enjoyable day, with a welcome cuppa and delicious cake to end the day. Thanks to Candlebark Staff and volunteers.

Sunday 1st March
Yarran Dheran Nature Reserve
Mitcham
A lovely social afternoon in a beautiful environment, but dry. The plants are quite stressed, hence flowering is retarded.
Yarran Dheran Nature Reserve is a pocket of bushland along the Mullum Mullum Valley, cared for by the Yarran Dheran Advisory Committee in partnership with the City of Whitehorse. Once home to the Wurundjeri people and later used for farming, timber, quarrying, and even as a municipal tip, the reserve has transformed into a sanctuary of restored native bush, rich with flora, fauna, and cultural history.
